Hello family, and welcome back to our blog! How have you guys been? It’s almost the weekend, and we hope you have lovely plans. We definitely do, as we are about to tell you about Mariam and her sweetheart mermaid dress, adorned with beaded lace, a gorgeous train and a sexy fit. This dress had it all, modeled after the gorgeous bride that wore it!
Before we dive in, let’s take a minute to acknowledge that we are all going through interesting times. Take care of yourself, we are all in this together. Let’s all stay safe, wash our hands and do our part by staying at home if we can. Thanks to all the service workers keeping us safe, and to all other essential workers. We appreciate you all so much.
A sexy sweetheart mermaid wedding dress: The story
Mariam met our team in 2018 through her husband (whom our founder went to school with). We instantly clicked and started chatting incessantly about dresses. She loved sweetheart mermaid wedding dresses, but was torn between a detachable wedding dress and a classic mermaid wedding dress with some character. We brainstormed for a few months, had fun exploring ideas, discussing fabrics and textures and imagining options and designs. She was super easy to talk to and always had great ideas.
Fast forward to March 2019, her wedding date was tentatively set for November. We therefore got a little more serious about nailing down a style. It was a fairly easy process, as we already had a lot of sweetheart neckline wedding dress ideas pinned down. (More on wedding dress necklines here)
Design
The main thing Mariam wanted to do was wow her boo. She was very serious about him being speechless when he saw her during their first look (hint- she succeeded and then some!) . Our bride hence wanted a gorgeous and dramatic dress that would achieve just that. She also wanted something fitted to show off her figure.
For the shape, we decided on a flirty sweetheart wedding dress with a beaded lace overlay for texture. The lace we chose was beaded with pearls and sported hexagonal details. It was a pretty unique motif, and we decided to go for a dark champagne background underneath it to make it pop. Mariam also opted to forgo sequins in order to keep the shine subtle and refined.
Mariam also wanted her beaded mermaid wedding dress with a train, and she wanted volume and fun. We therefore opted for horsehair tulle and created a train with some sass and movement. We went with large airy ruffles that flared out, to accentuate her hourglass shape.
Finally, for her neckline, she kept it simple with a rounded sweetheart shape (as mentioned above). We went back and forth about sleeves but she ended up going for beaded and detailed straps, with a little pearl tassel in the back.

Bringing Mariam’s Sweetheart Mermaid Wedding Dress to life
Creating Mariam’s wedding dress was super fun. After we finalized the look and chose the lace, the team got to work. Mariam kept chatting with our team often about all kinds of things: hair looks, makeup looks, etc. We actually picked a hairstyle together for the big day, a half up half down pony with a side braid and cascading curls.
In October, the dress was ready! She fell in love with her final videos, and requested a delivery in November (by then, the final date for the wedding was mid January). Her fitting session was great; she ended up opting to tighten up the bodice just a little to perfectly highlight her body, but everything else was flawless and she took the dress home a week later. (She had a final fitting session before the big day, where no alterations were needed.)
Wedding Day
The big day was here in the blink of an eye, and OMG did Mariam nail her plan! She was a vivacious vision in her sweetheart wedding dress, a dream of champagne and white. Her look was completed with a red rose bouquet with some greenery (similar ones here). She could not stop smiling all day. Her husband was transfixed and could not stop looking at her (he later sent a message to the team to say he was *indeed* speechless!). It was a gorgeous sight to see them together, and their adorable son completed their picture perfect trio.
