Hello, everyone! Ready for another sensational bride and dress story? Today, we are gushing about JoSaBi Aïda. She contacted us in 2021 for a wedding in early 2022, and we spent a few months working with her to create her dream illusion mermaid wedding dress. Did she start from scratch? No, she saw our work and decided to get a previous dress remade, but we used that inspiration to create something unique instead. Curious to see the result? Let’s go!
JoSaBi Aïda’s gorgeous illusion mermaid wedding dress
JoSaBi Aïda already knew our work, and she was inspired by other JoSaBi brides. Indeed, she fell in love with the idea of the dress donned by JoSaBi Serena, as well as the initials on the veil of JoSaBi Natou. By the way, it is always great to research styles and has inspirations to start from (Picking the silhouette, deciding on the sleeves, the neckline, a veil…), and Aïda definitely had a wealth of ideas. We, however, stay away from exact replicas, so in the end, the result is always customized for each bride. The dress will always represent the wearer’s unique personality!

Designing Aïda’s illusion mermaid wedding dress
The Brief
Our JoSaBi Aïda wanted a mermaid wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline- that was the base. She opted for illusion elbow-length sleeves with detailing and beading, a delicate back with lacey details and pearl buttons, plenty of sparkle, and a customized veil with her and her groom’s initials.
The Design Process
JoSaBi Aïda described everything she wanted from different JoSaBi dresses after perusing our Instagram page. She was very open to new ideas, so we used her ideas to create something entirely unique for her.
After our consultation, we established that she liked feminine details with swirls and flowers and anchored her lace research on these elements. She also loved an excellent mermaid shape but wanted to move around easily. We hence adjusted the silhouette to show off her body while remaining comfortable.
She wanted some peekaboo details, so we added our signature sparkle fabric to her skirt for a pop of shine.
Finally, she wanted a long traditional train. We obliged, of course, but had a bit of fun with the lace placement to give the dress more character.
The final detail was her gorgeous veil, boasting her and her love’s initials in delicate hand beading. Details on details, and we loved every second of it.
The dress went on without a hitch and was done around Christmas. It was just perfect, and she was absolutely in LOVE. So were we, honestly.
Finally, the dress and veil were shipped months before her wedding in Burkina Faso. She flew in a few months later from France and was ready for her big day after one fitting.
Aïda’s illusion mermaid wedding dress was based on a classic shape with a wealth of details.
JoSaBi Aïda: a Divine Bride
Our team was super happy to help behind the scenes in the days leading up to the wedding. Indeed, JoSaBi Aïda shared with us the hairdo options she had chosen and even exchanged makeup ideas.
All details complimented her dress beautifully, and she was absolutely stunning. Her delicate gloves gave a special touch, and the veil with the couple’s initials was genuinely romantic.
Congratulations JoSaBi Aïda! We are super grateful we go to collaborate with such a lovely and patient bride who always had kind words. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you and wish you and your husband decades upon decades of bliss, love, and happiness.
We hope JoSaBi Aïda’s story was fun for you to read! Thank you for taking the time to hang out with us today, and we are looking forward to seeing you for our next bridal stories.
With Love,
